Big Brother's Blog

I'm not surprised at all, but apparently US Customs now reads blogs. As we, people of the technology age, become equipped with more ways to express our thoughts, the government also becomes enlightened and somewhat afraid that the masses are becoming too intelligent. Yes, I know this is argument is very cut and dry, but I strongly believe that an educated population strikes fear into those who are in an authority position. First off, they are no longer able to persuade based on speech and traditional norms. With an educated population, real democracy seems within reach as more and more people begin to voice their opinion and force governmental institutions to answer questions that have been evaded for years. Sure the case with US Customs is with an immigrant, but there is no doubt that institutions in charge have begun to monitor the blogs of American citizens.

The gap between big brother and your privacy is becoming increasingly small, is there anyway to reclaim what we are losing?
