Jeanine vs. Hillary

Looks like there is a new main event in New York recently. No not the Aristocrat movie that opened recently although I heard it was pretty good. I'm talking about the fight for the senate seat. Jeanine Pirro has decided to run again Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, and jump started her campaign just a couple of days ago. Well dressed and ready to rumble Pirro seems to be all smoke and no fire with her first public oration failing to meet political professionalism. She openly bashed Clinton on a number of issues and even hinted at the fact that being senator of New York meant nothing more to Hillary than just a ladder rung away from the White House. Pretty strong words coming from Pirro, a woman whose husband Albert Pirro has shadowed her campaign with his less than stellar career activities. Pirro has stated over and over again that despite the illegal activities it is her name on the ballot and that her husband is not involved in her campaign at all. Back to her appearance the other day. While she delivered a some what flawless speech (I'll excuse her asking for a page 10 of her speech which she apparently forgot in the back room), her Q & A period seemed to hit a landmine. When asked questions Pirro seemed somewhat unsure of her answers and even paused for more than half a minute before answering another. One reporter asked if she would accept campaign donations for individuals with a criminal record and she responded "that will be decided on a case-by-case basis." I suppose case-by-case meaning that if her husband, who most definitely has a criminal record, and is known for his fundraising wants to contribute than she was most likely give it the green light. After all it is her husband.

Now I've spent most of my time highlighting Mrs. Pirro's flaws but one interesting similarity between Pirro and Clinton is that they are wives of important men who have been portrayed (mainly because of their actions) as being a tad bit immoral. Take former President Clinton for instance, I'm sure everyone who has a working brain knows about the blue dress scandal with a certain intern. Well Albert Pirro has also been known to have extramarital affairs, even fathering a child in 2000. Both wives have stayed by their men, and in fact excelled in their own political careers. Perhaps they are trying to send a message that powerful successful women can also have dumbasses for husbands, but that doesn't mean they can't move up in their own political realms. Although they are fighting on different sides both Pirro and Clinton are proving a point. One word of advice to Mrs. Pirro though: If you are going to bash, be sure to have answers/solutions that will back you up.
